Oklahoma Dementia Care Network

Oklahoma Dementia Care Network (OkDCN) is a program through the Section of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and OU Health Sciences Center aimed at enhancing the care of and support for the growing number of Oklahomans affected by all types of dementia. The program was funded through a $3.75 million grant by the Health Resources and Service Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We will be working with partners across the state of Oklahoma to address four main objectives:

  • Promote a statewide network of organizations and people dedicated to improve care for people living with dementia (PLWD) and their caregivers
  • Train primary care providers to assess and address the needs of older adults with dementia
  • Transform primary care and long-term care settings to be dementia friendly
  • Deliver community-based education and training to improve dementia-related health outcomes.

Through addressing these four objectives we aim to improve the health outcomes for the growing number of Oklahomans being affected by dementia, and those individuals helping with their care.
