Prostate Cancer Services & Treatments

When you choose Stephenson Cancer Center, you work with an extensively experienced, fellowship-trained urologic cancer care team to develop a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your specific situation. In addition to prostate cancer screenings and tests, you and your doctors may choose from a wide range of prostate cancer services and treatments such as:

  • Active surveillance
  • Chemotherapy
  • Comprehensive advanced prostate cancer treatment program
  • Focal prostate therapies, including cryotherapy
  • High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a noninvasive treatment using high-frequency sound waves to target and eliminate abnormal tissue while sparing healthy tissue. In 2015 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved HIFU for treatment of prostate cancer. Sonablate® HIFU also treats benign tumors, essential tremors, and cancer-related bone pain. Benefits include low risk of erectile dysfunction or incontinence, no radiation exposure, and quick recovery—most patients resuming normal activities within 24 hours.
  • Genetic testing and molecular diagnosis (personalized medicine)
  • Maximum androgen ablation
  • Minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgery (nerve-sparing prostatectomy)
  • 3T MRI-guided fusion biopsy using stored and real-time data for enhanced detection
  • Radiation therapy, including proton external-beam radiotherapy for precise tumor targeting
