Cancer Navigation Services

Cancer Navigation Services

When you choose OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center for your care, you gain access to many providers and specialists, including navigators. These specially trained advocates help guide you through treatment, work with your care team to address your needs and connect you with helpful resources.

Nurse Navigators

As part of your disease-specific care team from the moment you’re referred to Stephenson Cancer Center, nurse navigators champion your wishes and focus on your needs. They offer an added layer of support through every step of your journey.

Although many clinical staff will provide you with medical care, your nurse navigator, a registered nurse (RN), acts as your personal advocate and works closely with you and all members of your care team to find solutions and answers to your questions. Your nurse navigator can:

  • Help you understand and answer questions about your diagnosis, treatment options and care plan
  • Provide education and make sure you have clear cancer information so you can fully participate in your care
  • Assess your physical, emotional, financial and spiritual needs throughout your journey
  • Connect you to supportive services such as financial assistance, nutrition therapy, counseling, physical therapy, pain management services and more
  • Help you learn about clinical trials, medical procedures and what to expect during your appointments
  • Respect your wishes and help your care team understand your goals

With so many things to consider during cancer treatment, you can take one item off your list because nurse navigation services come to you at no cost. Whenever you have questions or need assistance during your treatment, you can contact your nurse navigator directly for help in connecting you to the answers, people and services you need.
