About Ozer Algan

Ozer Algan, MD, Board Certified Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, has been at the University of Oklahoma since 2007. His areas of expertise include the treatment of patients with brain tumors, genitourinary tumors, breast cancers and sarcomas. He is a member of multidisciplinary tumor boards for brain tumors, genitourinary tumors, breast cancers and sarcomas, where individualized, multidisciplinary treatment plans utilizing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy are developed for each patient.

He also serves as a member of the Clinical Research Disease Site Groups for the above mentioned disease sites at the Stephenson Cancer Center. Each individual group is charged with reviewing the ongoing research activities for its corresponding disease site, and recommending future studies that could be opened or developed. Dr. Algan represents the University of Oklahoma nationally at the NSABP/RTOG/GOG (NRG) Oncology Group, bringing national radiation- based clinical research trials to the Stephenson Cancer Center.

Dr. Algan is leading the development of the proton treatment program at the Stephenson Cancer Center. Particle therapy using protons is the most recent, cutting edge development in radiation therapy, and will place the Stephenson Cancer Center among the leaders in the United States in cancer treatment.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Dr. Algan completed his residency training at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. After residency, he studied at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota for 10 months doing specialty fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology and Special Procedures. Since joining the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Algan has published numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and presented abstracts in national meetings. He has been an invited speaker in regional, national, as well as International meetings.

Dr. Algan is a caring, compassionate physician and a firm believer in multidisciplinary cancer care. He approaches each patient as an individual, working in conjunction with all members of the Stephenson Cancer Center team to provide high quality , individualized, comprehensive and caring cancer treatment.
