OU Health MyChart FAQs

Family Access

Can I view a family member’s health record in MyChart?

Yes. This is called “proxy” access and allows another person (eg. parent or caregiver) to login to their personal MyChart account, then connect to information about their family member who is an OU Health patient. To request this access, follow one of the below steps. Patients can take away or change this access at any time.

  1. Select the Request Access button on our MyChart homepage. Fill out all information and submit. The Health Information Management team will look at it before approval.
  2. If the family member already has a MyChart account, they can login to their account and send proxy invites to the family members they wish to have access. After signing into MyChart, they will need to go to “Sharing Hub” from the Menu, then select “Manage Friends and Family Access”.

If your child is an OU Health patient, but you are not, ask about proxy access at your next visit to utilize MyChart or follow option #1.

Can I ask questions for a family member from my MyChart account?

To ask questions regarding a family member, you must be granted proxy access. Once given this access, login and connect to your family member’s account to send questions to your family member’s care team.

If you do not have proxy access, you are not able to send messages regarding family members since these questions would be connected to your medical record.

Can my spouse and I share one MyChart account?

Each person must have their own MyChart account, which requires individual email addresses. You may share your MyChart record with loved ones by granting them proxy access.

What happens if my loved one is deceased or I receive an alert and my family member is deceased?

To tell OU Health of the passing of your loved one, contact the Health Information Management Department at (572) 244-0058. If you have proxy access for your loved one, you will continue to be able to view health information up to 30 days from the date of their death.

Video Visits

Do I need to use a specific internet browser for video visits?

If you are on your laptop or computer, please use either Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Microsoft Edge when starting a video visit. If you are on the MyChart app, it will launch right from the app.

How do I get to my video visit?

  • You will get a text and email when the visit is scheduled and again on the morning of your appointment asking you to do the e-check-in process
  • 15 minutes before the visit, you will get a text and email with the link to the video visit.
  • You can either use those links to jump directly into the video visit OR you can login to MyChart and join that way as well.
