About Stephen Mihalsky

In 1993, after graduating from medical school at Thomas Jefferson University, completing a
General Surgery Residency at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, and finishing a Hand Surgery Fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Dr. Mihalsky started his private practice in Hand Surgery in Oklahoma City. After two years, he moved his practice to Edmond, affiliating with Edmond Medical Center to establish the first Hand Surgery practice in the city. In 2020, his practice associated with OU Medicine, continuing to see patients at his Edmond office.

During his tenure, he served Edmond Medical Center as Chief of the Medical Staff, Vice Chairman of the Board, and Chairman of the Board. From 2008 until 2016, he served as Chief Medical Officer at Edmond Medical Center, helping to guide the transition during the merger with OU Medical Center.

Outside of medicine, he has helped his wife raise two wonderful children. He is an avid bicyclist and competitive fencer. He has competed in the U.S. Fencing National Championships on several occasions. He was one of the first certified Women's Lacrosse Referees in Oklahoma. He has helped coach his children's basketball and softball teams. He enjoys participating in tennis, hiking, pickleball, and a rare round of golf.

He approaches patient care with a healthy respect for patients' desires to avoid surgery when possible, but to proceed when necessary. He believes a well informed patient will make appropriate medical decisions.
