Small Animal Imaging Core

The Small Animal Imaging Core utilizes an IVIS Spectrum system (Caliper Life Sciences) to enable investigators to study disease progression, cell trafficking, and gene expression in live cells in addition to providing 3D anatomical topography and X-ray analyses. The equipment is capable of detecting luminescence and fluorescence in cells from blue to near infrared wavelengths.

The core also houses the Carestream In-Vivo Xtreme imaging system that is specifically designed for researchers seeking high sensitivity luminescence, fluorescence, radioisotopic, and radiographic imaging.

Other instruments housed in the facility include a Leica Fluorescence Stereo Microscope and an INVIVO 400 and 500 Hypoxia Workstations. This core enables the PJIs to maximize their research efforts in achieving the goals of their specific aims. It will aid COBRE and other investigators in advancing the areas of disease diagnosis, progression, response to therapy, and efficacy.
