For the most serious or life-threatening injuries, getting trauma care within the first hour of injury improves survival and positive outcomes. If you’re in Oklahoma or the surrounding region, OU Health’s s Level 1 Trauma center provides the highest level of surgical care for your injured child.

Your child receives expert treatment in an emergency department that also keeps an operating room open and a trauma surgeon on hand at all times.
Located on the north side of Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, the emergency room is off NE 13th Street, directly east of Children’s Avenue. Park in the ramp and look for signs for Emergency.
Know that you and your child benefit from a special program designed to reduce the stress of a hospital stay, even within our colorful and welcoming environment. In the emergency department at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, you'll work with a full-time Child Life specialist who offers age-appropriate explanations and play-based activities to improve your child’s comfort.
In addition, if your child requires respiratory therapy services, laboratory or imaging services, or requires more advanced care, rest assured that the state's foremost experts are there for you, all under one roof.
You’re a valued member of your child’s emergency care team and you’re involved in treatment decisions. Medical members of your child’s care team also give you instructions in person and printed in English or Español showing how to provide proper care when your child leaves the hospital.
