About Ryan Sims

Ryan Sims, OTD/L is a University of Oklahoma alumni and attended Washington University in St. Louis for her clinical doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy, where she graduated in December 2014. As an Occupational Therapist, she has worked with adults in in-patient rehabilitation, in the community through the Valir PACE program, and in skilled nursing facilities. She became certified as a PWR!Moves Instructor and had the opportunity to co-lead the Valir PWR! Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery community exercise program for almost two years. She also became a certified Master Trainer for a falls recovery program called Matter of Balance and lead the inaugural 12-week group at Valir PACE.

In addition to her new part-time position with the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center Rehabilitation team, she is expanding her knowledge and practice in the area of pediatrics. As an Occupational Therapist, she loves the opportunity to educate people on what wellness entails and the myriad of ways to attend to wellness, to facilitate ways for people to improve everyday function for their wellness, and to celebrate their improved wellness. She is looking forward to expanding the impact of the rehabilitation clinic’s high standards, enthusiasm, and caring attitude into the community through evidence-based programs.

Dr. Sims is also the proud mom of two young children. She loves yoga and being outdoors. She’s happy to have this opportunity to expand her knowledge and experience, as well as contribute to furthering care and education for those living with or surviving a cancer diagnosis and their caregivers.
