About Hakeem Shakir

Dr. Shakir is a neurosurgeon with fellowship training in endovascular neurosurgery treating stroke and aneurysm patients at OU Health. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and neurosurgery residency at the University at Buffalo, He completed a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at the University at Buffalo at the Gates Vascular Institute. Before joining the neurosurgery department at OU Health he served as the Director of Endovascular Neurosciences at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital. Dr. Shakir has authored over 40 peer reviewed journal publications and book chapters ranging from complex stroke care to physician burnout and resilience.

    Dr Hakeem Shakir is amazing! When I came to this visit, I was feeling no compare better. He was happy to see that I am so well, he told me to continue doing the same thing, and if there is a need to see him again, just call.He is very friendly, you can talk everything with him.

    Dr. Shakir is a great neurosurgeon. He has a good bedside manner. He is reassuring and makes you feel like everything is going to be okay, at a time when you are scared and waiting to hear whether your condition has worsened. I appreciate him.
