About Firas Jafri

Jafri is a hematologist and medical oncologist with a special interest in myeloma and thoracic oncology. He completed his internal medicine residency at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, and completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Jafri was inspired by his grandmother’s battle with lung cancer to pursue a career in medicine and is passionate about building relationships with patients while showing empathy and prioritizing a patient’s understanding of their treatment options and best course of care.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, traveling, trying new food and watching sports, particularly cricket.

Dr Jafri had studied our mothers medical history..& was very prepared to share what he felt best for our mothers care. He listened to our questions & answered all that we had for him. He was patient & was not in a rush. Our mother & us left with a plan. We felt we knew what to do for the next steps to care for our mother.

This visit was a response to my MyChart message expressing my extreme dissatisfaction with referrals that had been made without discussing them with me and my inability to get answers to questions concerning my health plan going forward.
