About Carolyn Kloek

Carolyn Kloek, MD, is an ophthalmologist at OU Health Dean McGee Eye Institute, specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract care. She also serves as OU Health's Chief Medical Officer. She is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing outcomes and safety in eye surgery.

Dr. Kloek earned her Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by her ophthalmology residency at the Harvard Ophthalmology Residency Training Program at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. She went on to serve as chief resident and director of the eye trauma service at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, where she led educational initiatives, mentored trainees and helped oversee one of the busiest eye trauma centers in the Northeast. She also completed a fellowship in medical education at Harvard Medical School.

Prior to joining OU Health, Dr. Kloek practiced comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. She also held several leadership roles, including associate residency program director and later residency program director for the Harvard Ophthalmology Residency Training Program. In addition, she served as clinical director of Mass. Eye and Ear–Longwood, chief of the division of ophthalmology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and associate chief of ophthalmology for Massachusetts Eye and Ear.

Dr. Kloek’s research focuses on quality and outcomes in cataract surgery as well as medical and surgical education. She has received numerous honors, including the Women in Ophthalmology Emerging Leader Award, Women in Ophthalmology Educator Award, the Boston Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award for Achievement in the Professions and the Harvard Medical School Certificate for Faculty Mentoring Award.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kloek enjoys exploring Oklahoma and traveling with her husband and their three children.
