About Benjamin Chou

As a Taiwanese-American immigrant, Dr. Chou had a strong conviction to give back and serve those in need. He joined the United States Army as a combat medic and was deployed to Afghanistan as part of a field surgical team, and consequently, started his journey to becoming a surgeon. Dr. Chou graduated from the University of Utah and was accepted to the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.). This was followed by a general surgery residency at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). At the completion of his general surgery training, Dr. Chou stayed on and completed his vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship at OHSU. During his time at OHSU, Dr. Chou received numerous awards, including the Howard P. Lewis Award for medical student teaching, the Karen Deveney and Clifford Deveney Award for Outstanding Resident, and the Outstanding Fellow of the Year award.

Dr. Chou joined the thoracic and cardiovascular surgery division at the University of Oklahoma in 2023 as a vascular and endovascular surgeon in Oklahoma City. He strives for comprehensive vascular care for his patients and takes pride in working at an academic health system to train the next generation of surgeons. Additionally, Dr. Chou feels passionate about caring for an underserved population and management of complex diseases and is happy to provide vascular trauma care at the state's only Level 1 trauma center.

Dr. Chou has earned a reputation for being thoughtful, adaptable, and calm under pressure, which he attributes to his military service and draws him to complex cases. He considers both open and endovascular surgery techniques and offers the best procedure for each patient. In his free time, Dr. Chou enjoys backcountry skiing, trail running, mountain biking, and being outside with his family and newborn baby boy.
