Meet Cooper - Kids Club Member

Name: Cooper Bray
Hometown: Ratliff City
Age: 5

Cooper Bray is one of our youngest and first Kids Club members. His dad, Steven, helped share a little about Cooper and his passion to give back.

How does Cooper support Oklahoma Children's Hospital as a Kids Club member?

Two or three times per year, Cooper and his family collect and donate toys for the Toy Cart at Oklahoma Children's Hospital. These toys are given to children throughout the hospital, as a way to spark joy in a tough time.

Why did Cooper decide to support Oklahoma Children's Hospital through Kids Club?

Cooper was just three days from his first birthday when his mom, Shytana (Shy), passed away. A former pediatric patient at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, Shy’s brain tumor returned when she was 24 years old—and five months pregnant—after being in remission for 18 years. As a young patient, she enjoyed receiving special gifts from the Toy Cart. Cooper’s father, Steven, and the friends and families who love Shy, have honored her with joy and generosity by hosting toy drives every year.

What does it mean to be able to give back to other kids?
Cooper's dad, Steven shared that “showing Coop what generosity means is just another way of showing him what his momma was all about. She was always compassionate, caring and kind.” By bringing people together to help Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, Cooper's family taught Cooper how to give and support others they’ve told stories of his mom’s courage and joy all along the way.
