Collaborative Art Projects

At Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, healing goes beyond medicine. Our Child Life, Integrative and Creative Care team recently partnered with pediatric cancer and blood disorder patients to create something truly special: a coloring book and original song that reflect the courage, creativity, and resilience of children facing cancer.

This project — titled “We Can Do This” — began as a therapeutic initiative to help patients express their emotions through art and music. Guided by our certified Child Life specialists and board-certified art and music therapists, patients contributed original illustrations and lyrics that now live on in a vibrant coloring book and uplifting song.

A Message of Hope and Empowerment

The coloring book features artwork from children in our hematology/oncology program, each page a testament to their strength and imagination. The accompanying song, written and performed with the help of our music therapy team, delivers a powerful message: you are not alone, and together, we can do this.

Why It Matters

This initiative is more than a creative outlet — it’s a therapeutic tool that fosters emotional healing, builds community, and gives children a voice during one of the most challenging times in their lives. It also reflects the mission of our Child Life team: to support the whole child — emotionally, socially, and developmentally — throughout their medical journey.
