About Simon Rodier
Simon Rodier, MD, is a general surgeon who specializes in abdominal wall reconstruction. His practice focuses on minimally invasive and robotic approaches to complex hernia repair including loss of domain hernias, and foregut conditions. His practice places an emphasis on restoring core function and mobility for patients whose abdominal wall disorders affect daily activities.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine at New York University. He then completed residency training in general surgery at New York University Langone Health in Manhattan and fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He also holds a Master of Philosophy in clinical neurosciences from the University of Cambridge and an honors Bachelor of Science in life sciences from Queen’s University.
As an assistant professor of surgery, he contributes to education, research, and peer review, including service for Clinical Obesity, and is active in professional societies such as the American Hernia Society, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. His academic interests include abdominal wall reconstruction, bariatric surgery, inguinal hernias, recurrent ventral hernias, and umbilical hernias.
During residency, he designed a venous thromboembolism prophylaxis study that informed an updated protocol at a high‑volume hospital. He chose OU Health for its expanding academic resources, multidisciplinary subspecialty support, and the opportunity to address regional access gaps in complex abdominal wall reconstruction. During his academic training, he was recognized for his achievements in ice hockey, earning a Cambridge University Full Blue.
