About Shearwood McClelland III

Dr. Shearwood McClelland III is a radiation oncologist at OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. He also serves as an assistant professor in Radiation Oncology and Neurological Surgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.

He earned his doctor of medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, N.Y. Dr. McClelland completed a residency and a fellowship in stereotactic radiosurgery in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Ind.

Creator of the validated Inpatient Metastatic Spine Score to optimally treat spine cancer, Dr. McClelland is the Principal Investigator of an ongoing multicenter Phase II neuro-oncology randomized controlled trial and ongoing Phase I breast cancer trial and conducts research funded for more than $1.8 million by several agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, American Society for Radiation Oncology, Gilead Sciences, Radiation Oncology Institute, Susan G Komen and the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation.

In addition to healthcare equity, Dr. McClelland’s clinical interests are in primary and metastatic brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, temporal lobe epilepsy and spine tumors.

Dr. McClelland is dedicated to fostering optimal healthcare access for all cancer patients, while working to advance the treatment of central nervous system disease with radiation.
