About Scott Walen
Scott Walen, M.D., is a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at OU Health. He specializes in both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, head and neck, including facial trauma reconstruction, skin cancer reconstruction, rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation treatments such as injectables, laser procedures and surgical lifting techniques.
Dr. Walen was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He earned his doctor of medicine in Canada and completed his residency training in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta. He then completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, followed by additional fellowship training in head and neck reconstruction at Saint Louis University.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Walen serves as associate residency program director and has held prior academic leadership roles, including director of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and residency program director at Saint Louis University. He is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and serves as a board examiner. He has authored numerous research publications and textbook chapters and has been an invited speaker at regional, national and international meetings. His research interests include rhinoplasty outcomes, hair restoration techniques and improving surgical education. He is also experienced in media engagement and is passionate about helping patients feel confident in their appearance as part of their overall well-being.
