About Omar Baber

Omar Baber, MD, is an Interventional Cardiologist at OU Health in Oklahoma City, where he provides comprehensive cardiac care for adult patients. Dr. Baber performs a range of invasive procedures, including coronary angiograms, percutaneous coronary interventions, pericardiocentesis, right heart catheterization, and catheter-directed thrombolysis for pulmonary embolism. Prior to joining OU Health, Dr. Baber served as an Interventional Cardiologist at Oklahoma Heart Hospital and as a Hospitalist at Mercy Hospital, both in Oklahoma City. Dr. Baber completed fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Minnesota and in Cardiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, following residency and clinical fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Baber holds board certifications in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, and Comprehensive Adult Echocardiography.

Research interests include quality improvement in procedural safety and efficiency, as well as clinical topics such as brain protection during carotid stenting and heart disease in chronic kidney disease. Dr. Baber has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and contributed to major cardiology textbooks, and remains active in clinical research and education. Outside of medicine, Dr. Baber is an avid runner, having completed both full and half marathons and regularly participating in local races.
