About R. Michael Siatkowski
R. Michael Siatkowski, MD, MBA, is an ophthalmologist at OU Health Dean McGee Eye Institute, specializing in pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus, with a focus on improving vision and quality of life for patients of all ages. He is the Edward L. Gaylord Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology and a David Ross Boyd Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
Dr. Siatkowski earned his Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, graduating with distinction and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, followed by dual fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology and pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business.
His clinical interests include amblyopia, eye muscle surgery, retinopathy of prematurity, double vision and pediatric neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Siatkowski is widely recognized for his expertise in complex strabismus and neuro-ophthalmic conditions.
A national leader in academic ophthalmology, Dr. Siatkowski has held numerous prestigious leadership roles. He is a past president of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the Program Directors Council of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology. He has also served as Vice Chair of the Ophthalmology Residency Review Committee for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, as well as president of the Christian Ophthalmology Society, and is an emeritus director of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Ophthalmological Society and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Siatkowski is a highly accomplished educator and researcher, having received multiple teaching awards and publishing more than 185 peer-reviewed articles. He has delivered numerous invited lectures nationally and internationally and was honored with a Presidential Professorship from the University of Oklahoma.
Outside of his professional work, Dr. Siatkowski enjoys music and is an accomplished classical pianist, having performed in a variety of artistic and charitable settings. He and his wife, Dr. Rhea Siatkowski, a cornea and anterior segment specialist, have three children.
