I had a really poor experience with Dr. Mike Evans. He seems like a really nice guy, and this is nothing against him however, I was appalled by what was said to me and was put in my clinical notes. I went to the OB/GYN/reproductive Section at this hospital because I am a 22-year-old woman trying to understand my PCOS, HS, and Hirsutism journey. I was behooved that the only course of action was to lose weight. I have lost over 100 pounds, I will continue to lose weight. It is absolutely appalling that you have a professor at this university recommend recommending students get a gastric sleeve. This is the most invasive surgery, while evidence might show it improves peoples quality of lives. It is a blanket statement and is extremely dangerous narrative to push on people. I went there to figure out how to regulate my cycle, not to develop an eating disorder, which is the narrative he's trying to push. He quite literally recommended Weight Watchers in my clinical notes, at what point are we going to stop recommending diets for women as the end all be all solution. His course of solution was to throw me on a 1500 cal diet a day, and tell me to get a gastric sleeve. This is the doctor you are hiring. I really liked him, and so when he said this, I was taken back. I was offended. I told him that I thought that was extremely invasive. Going to the extreme for young individual individuals is a dangerous way to create eating disorders. Let alone he's not even a weight management doctor so I don't know why my whole clinical note was about weight. I am beyond frustrated with this experience, and it leaves me wondering is this how he treats families who are trying because the woman might be obese? It also leaves me wondering if he is taking BMI as the end I'll be y'all criteria of a person's weight. BMI is not the only criteria that can measure a person's weight.
