About Faddi Saleh Vaelez

Dr. Saleh Velez, M.D. is a neurologist with OU Health who specializes in vascular neurology and stroke care. His clinical and research interests include uncommon causes of stroke, such as genetic disorders and cerebrovascular complications associated with mechanical circulatory assist devices. He also has extensive experience in clinical and translational research evaluating the neurovascular effects of noninvasive brain stimulation techniques in patients with stroke, neuropathic pain, spinal cord injury and other neuropsychiatric disorders.

Dr. Velez earned his doctor of medicine from Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia. He subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neuromodulation and clinical research at Harvard University in Boston, where he focused on noninvasive electrical brain stimulation. He completed residency training in neurology in Chicago, followed by fellowship training in vascular neurology through the University of Miami/Jackson Health System in Miami.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Velez serves as a principal investigator for more than 10 investigator-initiated and funded clinical trials and is the site principal investigator for StrokeNet studies. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications and is a member of the World Stroke Organization Future Stroke Leaders Program. As a neurologist and physician-scientist, he remains actively involved in advancing stroke research and improving patient care through clinical investigation.
