About Erica Melick

Erica L. Melick, DNP, APRN-CNS, ACCNS-AG, CCRN, is an accomplished cardiovascular advanced practice provider, educator, and veteran with extensive experience in critical care and cardiology. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, building on her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Abilene Christian University. Board-certified as an adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist, cardiology, and critical care, she has developed a career centered on high-acuity cardiovascular care, including structural heart and advanced heart failure populations. In her current and prior clinical roles, she has managed complex patient populations, contributed to significant program growth—including rapid expansion of structural heart and heart failure services—and provided comprehensive care spanning diagnosis, intervention, and patient education.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Melick has held significant academic and leadership roles, serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor responsible for educating and mentoring hundreds of undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Her contributions extend to research and scholarship, with involvement in numerous cardiovascular clinical trials and presentations on heart failure, amyloidosis, and atrial fibrillation. A former United States Air Force veteran with multiple commendations, she brings a strong foundation in leadership, operational excellence, and service. Dr. Melick remains actively engaged in professional organizations, currently serving as President of the Oklahoma Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and has been recognized for her impact with honors such as Great 100 Nurses of Oklahoma and March of Dimes Nurse Educator of the Year.
