Azeemuddin Ahmed, MD, MBA, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician practicing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and is the Clinical Service Chief of Emergency Medicine at OU Health. His clinical expertise spans emergency medical services (EMS), trauma care, and critical care transport, with a distinguished career in both academic and operational emergency medicine. Dr. Ahmed is recognized nationally for his leadership in EMS systems and his commitment to improving rural emergency care.

Dr. Ahmed earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He later pursued a Master of Business Administration at the Tippie College of Business, University of Iowa. His educational journey also includes foundational training as an EMT and firefighter in Iowa, reflecting his lifelong dedication to emergency response and public service.

Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Ahmed has served in numerous leadership positions, including Founding Chair of Emergency Medicine at OU Health and Founding Director of the EMS Division and Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa. He is a prolific educator, mentor, and speaker, having taught across medical, business, and public health disciplines. His community involvement includes volunteer service at athletic events, EMS education outreach, and advisory roles in banking and healthcare organizations.

In his free time, Dr. Ahmed is a passionate runner and has completed multiple marathons and ultra-distance races across the country, embodying resilience and discipline both in and out of the hospital.
