Akshaya Gopalakrishnan, MD, is a cardiologist at OU Health in Oklahoma City. Her clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of complex cardiovascular conditions. Dr. Gopalakrishnan is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Center in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. Dr. Gopalakrishnan completed her internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, an academic affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in Brooklyn, New York. She recently completed her fellowship training in cardiovascular diseases at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel/Morningside in New York City.

In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Gopalakrishnan has served as a chief medical resident and has received multiple awards for teaching and patient care. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, and American College of Cardiology.
