  • Categories: Adult Services, Cancer

About This Event

  • Event Type:Community Event
Details: Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in black men, and after lung cancer, it is the second deadliest cancer for black men. In Oklahoma, black men are 70% more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than white men and are 2.6 times more likely to die from the disease. This event, which has been organized by Marvin Mack (“Coach Mack”) and supported by Pastors Reed, Sherrill, and Scobey, and Tyson, is meant to raise awareness about prostate cancer and other health issues affecting black men throughout Oklahoma. In partnership with OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center, this health summit will address the challenges of detecting and treating prostate cancer and provide information and resources to men interested in being proactive about engaging in preventive care.

There will also be other information and resources available at this event, such as a COVID-19 vaccination clinic, tobacco cessation resources, among other services. Families, women, and children are all encouraged to attend. Food and beverages will be provided. Registration
