Register Now for Bridges to Access 2023: Healthcare in the Justice System, February 11, 2023.
We are excited to announce that registration for OUCHA’s annual Bridges to Access conference is open! B2A - Healthcare in the Justice System will take place on 9AM-2:30PM ON Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at Nicholson Tower. We would love for you to join us in learning about the incarcerated patient population and the relationship between medicine and the department of corrections.
Conference attendees will hear keynote talks from Dr. Homer Venters, the former chief medical officer of NYC’s jail system and author of Life and Death in Rikers Island, and Dr. Joseph Penn, a clinical psychiatrist and former chair of the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from a panel of previously incarcerated individuals and attend a breakout session on a variety of topics such as women’s health behind bars, advocacy for the incarcerated, working as a healthcare provider in the department of corrections, reintegration into society, the impact of trauma on the incarcerated, and the relationship between substance abuse and the prison population.
