Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in men and women in the United States. You can take steps to intervene early through annual screenings. Stop by OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center to walk through your eligibility for screening, learn more about free tobacco cessation resources, and receive a low-dose CT scan that creates a detailed picture of your lungs if you’re eligible.
Most insurance plans cover the full cost of an annual lung screening. If you have concerns regarding costs, please call us at (405) 271-4225. We will work with you to either find or provide additional financial assistance.
You may be eligible for screening if you:
- Are ages 50 to 80 years old,
- and currently smoke or have quit in the past 15 years,
- and have at least a 20 pack-year smoking history (This is the number of packs of
- cigarettes per day multiplied by the number of years smoked.)
