About Yubin Kang
Dr. Yubin Kang, M.D. is a Hematologist Oncologist and physician-scientist who specializes in hematologic malignancies, bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. He serves as professor of medicine, section chief of Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy, and the Louise and Clay Bennett Chair in Cancer at the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center. His clinical interests include multiple myeloma, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR T-cell therapy, immunotherapy and the treatment of other blood cancers and plasma cell disorders.
Dr. Kang earned his medical degree with a focus in hematology and immunology from Shanghai Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, China, where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by residency training in internal medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He then completed fellowship training in hematology, oncology and cellular therapy at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Kang is an accomplished researcher and academic leader whose work focuses on developing new therapies for multiple myeloma and improving outcomes in stem cell transplantation. He has served in a variety of leadership roles, including director of a CAR T-cell therapy program and co-lead of an immuno-oncology program. A professor of medicine, he has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to national clinical practice guidelines and serves in editorial leadership roles for multiple oncology and hematology journals. His laboratory research is supported by both federal (NIH R01s, U01 and R21s) and foundational grants. He has also mentored numerous medical students, residents, fellows and research trainees throughout his career.
