About Shelly Schreck
Shelly Schreck, APRN, CNS, is an advanced practice registered nurse and clinical nurse specialist with OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Specializing in hematology and oncology care, Schreck provides comprehensive assessments, develops treatment plans, orders and interprets diagnostic testing, manages symptoms during active treatment, and educates patients and caregivers about care plans, medications and treatment-related side effects. Clinical expertise also includes performing bone marrow aspirations and biopsies for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions.
Schreck earned a Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist from the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Educational preparation also includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona College of Nursing in Tucson, Arizona, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Education with an emphasis in Community Health Education from the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
Before joining the Stephenson Cancer Center as an APRN and clinical nurse specialist, Schreck built more than a decade of nursing experience in oncology, infusion, medical-surgical, critical care and cardiovascular settings. Previous roles included serving as a charge nurse, preceptor and oncology nurse at OU Medical Center, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center and DCH Regional Medical Center. Schreck maintains certifications in oncology nursing and advanced life support and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, the Oklahoma Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology.
