About Matthew Chorost

Matthew S. Chorost, MD, is an ophthalmologist at OU Health Dean McGee Eye Institute specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract surgery, premium cataract surgery, and refractive procedures, including LASIK, PRK, implantable collamer lens (ICL) surgery, and refractive lens exchange. He is dedicated to helping patients achieve their vision goals through personalized care and advanced surgical techniques.

A native of Moore, Oklahoma, Dr. Chorost earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the National Capital Consortium/Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he received extensive training in medical and surgical eye care.

Dr. Chorost served eight years as an active-duty Army officer and continues his service as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve. During his military career, he specialized in refractive surgery, providing LASIK, ICL surgery, and refractive lens exchange procedures for service members. He also served as Chief of Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery Services at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Cavazos from 2023 to 2024.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chorost is passionate about medical education. He has taught ocular trauma surgery to residents at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland, and has mentored medical students from military training programs and Texas A&M University.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Chorost enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young daughters.
