About Maheswaran Pitchaimuthu
Maheswaran Pitchaimuthu, MBBS, MRCS (Edin.), FRCS (Eng.), CCT (UK), ASTS is an assistant professor in the department of surgery, division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine He received his medical degree from The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University in India. Dr. Pitchaimuthu completed his internship at Perundurai Medical College and a postgraduate surgical training at Government Stanley Medical College in India. He has completed his higher surgical training (General Surgery Residency with special interest in HPB and Transplant Surgery) at West of Scotland Deanery and also completed fellowships in hepato-pancreatic-biliary surgery and adult/pediatric liver transplantation at University Hospitals Birmingham, UK, followed by a second fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Multi-organ Transplant at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.
Before joining OU Health, he was a lead liver/kidney transplant surgeon, Secretary of Organ Transplant Committee at PSG Hospital in India and Technical/Expert committee member for TRANSTAN, Tamilnadu, India. Dr. Pitchaimuthu holds a multi-organ transplant training certificate from the American Society for Transplant Surgery and is certified through the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons in England.
His clinical interests are deceased/living donor, adult and pediatric liver/kidney transplant surgery, pancreas transplant, split liver transplant and hepatobiliary surgery. His research interest in the area of organ preservation and ERAS in Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgery.
