About Deana Watts
Deana Watts, MD, is an ophthalmologist at OU Health Dean McGee Eye Institute dedicated to providing high-quality eye care for adult patients while helping train the next generation of ophthalmologists. She treats a wide range of eye conditions, including dry eye disease, glaucoma, cataracts, refractive errors, and diabetic eye disease, helping patients maintain and improve their vision through personalized, compassionate care.
Dr. Watts earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. After practicing in Wichita Falls, she returned to Oklahoma to join the faculty of the Dean McGee Eye Institute.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Watts serves as a supervising physician in the Resident Outpatient Clinic, where she oversees resident physicians as they evaluate and treat patients with a broad range of ophthalmic conditions. She considers teaching one of the most rewarding aspects of her career and values the opportunity to mentor future ophthalmologists while caring for a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. Her commitment to excellence in education has been recognized with the Edward and Thelma Gaylord Faculty Resident Teaching Award, which she received in 2002 and 2013.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Watts enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Dr. Jeff Watts, a radiologist in private practice in Edmond, have four children.
