About Basit Khan

Dr. Basit Khan, M.D. is a neurosurgeon who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of brain and spine tumors. His practice combines advanced surgical techniques with compassionate, patient-centered care.

Dr. Khan uses state-of-the-art technologies such as laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) and fluorescence-guided surgery (5-ALA) to precisely target and remove brain tumors. He is also highly trained in awake brain surgery, which enables him to safely operate on tumors located in critical areas of the brain. In addition, Dr. Khan has advanced training in stereotactic radiosurgery using the Gamma Knife, offering noninvasive treatment options for selected brain conditions.

Dr. Khan manages a full range of complex brain and spine tumors and is deeply involved in both clinical care and research to improve outcomes for patients with these challenging conditions.

Dr. Khan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and History of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University. He subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Khan completed his neurosurgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine affiliated hospitals. During residency, Dr. Khan trained at the world leading MD Anderson Cancer Center for over one year. This experience allowed Dr. Khan to master cutting edge techniques in brain and spine tumors. He pursued additional training through a Gamma Knife course at the University of Pittsburgh. After residency, Dr. Khan completed a fellowship in awake brain surgery under Professor Hugues Duffau at CHU Montpellier in France.

As an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Khan leads research focused on the genetics and molecular biology of brain tumors such as glioblastoma, meningioma, astrocytoma, and oligodendroglioma. He has authored several studies published in academic journals. His work has been recognized with awards from the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Baylor College of Medicine, and Johns Hopkins University. He also serves as a scientific reviewer for several leading neuro-oncology journals.

Beyond his academic and clinical work, Dr. Khan is dedicated to community service. He volunteers as a neurosurgeon on international medical missions and participates in charity cycling events to support patient care and research.
