About Asra Tanwir

Dr. Asra Tanwir is a board-certified neurologist with a clinical focus on epilepsy. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of seizure disorders, including seizure monitoring, interpretation, and management of antiepileptic medications. Her clinical interests include comprehensive patient evaluations, personalized treatment planning and contributing to surgical assessments for epilepsy care. She is particularly passionate about advancing epilepsy care through research and improving quality of life for patients living with chronic neurological conditions.

Dr. Tanwir earned her doctor of medicine from Baqai Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed an internal medicine residency at Charleston Area Medical Centre in Charleston, West Virginia, followed by neurology residency training at the University of Texas Health San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. She completed a fellowship training in epilepsy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she provided specialized care for patients with complex seizure disorders and contributed to multidisciplinary treatment planning.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tanwir has experience in academic medicine as a lecturer in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology and has participated in a clinical educator track focused on training residents and enhancing teaching skills. She has contributed to medical education through lectures, board review sessions and hands-on training for residents and medical students. Dr. Tanwir has also been active in research, with multiple peer-reviewed publications, poster presentations and ongoing studies related to epilepsy and neurological conditions.
