About Andrew Bailey

Andrew Bailey, MD, is an ophthalmologist at OU Health Dean McGee Eye Institute who is sub-specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. He also serves as a clinical associate professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He provides comprehensive care for a wide range of glaucoma conditions, including primary and secondary open-angle glaucoma, angle-closure glaucoma, traumatic and uveitic glaucoma, pediatric glaucoma and glaucoma associated with other ocular disorders. He also performs routine and complex cataract surgery.

Dr. Bailey earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed his internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and went on to serve in the United States Navy as a General Medical Officer from 2005 to 2010. During his service, he was deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his military service, he completed his ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma.

Deeply committed to education, Dr. Bailey plays an active role in training the next generation of ophthalmologists. He provides clinical and surgical instruction to residents at Dean McGee Eye Institute and through the Veterans Affairs system, helping ensure the highest standards of patient care. As a Navy veteran, he is especially honored to continue caring for fellow service members.

Dr. Bailey is also actively involved in clinical research, serving as a primary investigator on studies evaluating innovative glaucoma treatments and surgical interventions aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing medication burden.

He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society and Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Bailey has received numerous honors for his service and teaching, including the M. Dwayne Andrews, MD Excellence in Teaching Award in Graduate Medical Education and multiple Excellence in Attending awards from the VA. His military honors include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Achievement Medal.

Dr. Bailey is dedicated to providing expert, patient-centered eye care while advancing the field of ophthalmology through education, research and service.
