About Amanda Mitten

Amanda Mitten, M.A., is a licensed professional counselor with Center on Child Abuse and Neglect at OU Health in Oklahoma City.

Ms. Mitten received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. Her clinical experiences include evidence-based interventions for children with disruptive behavior disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder and other trauma-related disorders, children with problematic sexual behavior, and assessment of children prenatally exposed to drugs and alcohol. Ms. Mitten also serves as the Co-Director for CCAN’s Child Trauma Services Program (CTSP).

She is a nationally certified therapist in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. She is a certified TF-CBT consultant for the state of Oklahoma and she is a certified therapist and Within Agency Trainer in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment for young children with disruptive behavior disorders.

Ms. Mitten recently completed training and consultation in Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment for families navigating conflictual, coercive, or aggressive relationships. Ms. Mitten is also a national trainer in a skills-based model for managing secondary traumatic stress, Components for Enhancing Clinician Experience and Reducing Trauma (CE-CERT).
