You may not connect the word “fun” with your hospitalized child, but your child and everyone in your family affected by the illness needs a way to take an occasional break.

When your child becomes a patient at The Children’s Hospital, you and your family can take a break in The Zone, our community-funded, 6,000-square-foot play-and-learning haven located on the 6th Floor across from the Ronald McDonald Family Room. You’ll find:

  • Children’s play space
  • Teen space
  • Infant and toddler play area
  • Outdoor garden
  • Theater
  • Space for community visitors

Relax with Activities for Fun & Growth

Give yourself a place and time to relax in The Zone while your family takes advantage of fun, educational and therapeutic activities that help your child and any siblings cope with illness and hospitalization. Then, explore the extensive array of parent resources designed to support you throughout your child’s healthcare journey.

Get “In The Zone”

You and your family can help relieve the stress of hospitalization with interactive play, electronic gaming, books, musical instruments and more in The Zone. Or watch “In the Zone TV” television programming provided by The Children’s Hospital, available to everyone in the hospital and developed specifically for kids unable to leave their hospital rooms. Look for ITZTV on Channel 90.

Dedicated Child Life Specialists

In The Zone at The Children’s Hospital, you gain access to Child Life specialists from Oklahoma’s largest program for professionals trained to meet the psychosocial needs of children in healthcare settings. These compassionate experts dedicate their skills and energy to serving as mentors, guides and teachers for your child and family.

You and your hospitalized child work with Child Life specialists on developmental activities that help your child continue to learn and grow. At the same time, you can reach out to these caring providers for the social and emotional support you and your family need during stressful times.
