To join Stephenson Cancer Center as a volunteer, you must be:
18 years of age or older
Committed to delivering patient-centered care
Willing to uphold the mission, vision and values of the Cancer Center
Dedicated to service and to putting others first
In addition to the personal qualities for volunteers listed above, you also must successfully fulfill these requirements:
Commit to at least two (2) hours of service each week for six (6) months
Pass a background check
Clear a drug screen
Schedule an employee health appointment to review vaccinations
Complete our New Volunteer Orientation and Training session(s)

Once your application reaches our office, next steps include:
Application Interview – Your in-person interview helps us provide you with the most meaningful volunteer service position, one that best matches your skills, talents and interests. The interview also offers a chance for us to learn more about you, provide information about available volunteer roles and discuss program requirements.
Training/Onboarding – To assure your volunteer success as an important part of the mission of Stephenson Cancer Center, you’ll participate in a “welcome aboard” process where we first verify that you meet program requirements. Then, you receive role-specific training and more information about program expectations.
After you complete the onboarding process, you’re scheduled for your first volunteer shift. On your first day, we meet you at the Cancer Center and help guide you through the experience.
From then on, you’ll get regular check-in opportunities to visit with volunteer staff, so you can freely share your feelings, ideas and sense of fulfillment about volunteering at Stephenson Cancer Center.
