About Ben Harvey
Ben J. Harvey, MD, is an ophthalmologist at OU Health Dean McGee Eye Institute, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and cataracts, including advanced and premium cataract surgery. He also serves as a clinical associate professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Dr. Harvey focuses on building strong relationships with his patients and helping them preserve vision and improve quality of life.
Dr. Harvey earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology, summa cum laude, from Texas Tech University and his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, followed by his ophthalmology residency at the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Health System in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Dr. Harvey is actively involved in both state and national ophthalmology communities. He previously served as president of the Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology and is a graduate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Leadership Development Program. He has also been recognized as a “Forty Under 40” honoree by both the Oklahoma Gazette and Oklahoma Magazine for his contributions to the community and the field of ophthalmology.
Outside of work, Dr. Harvey enjoys spending time with his wife, Leigh, a physical therapist, and their three children.
