Before, During & After Your Appointment

If you haven’t yet done so, request an appointment with OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City.

Plan Ahead for a Valuable Visit

Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before your appointment time so you can park, find your office/clinic location and fill out any paperwork.

What to Bring

For your first visit to a Stephenson Cancer Center specialist or office/clinic, bring the new-patient paperwork, if mailed to you in advance. If you didn’t receive paperwork before your visit, you’ll complete the necessary documents when you arrive.

Also, you may be asked to bring additional medical records, pathology (lab) slides or imaging CDs to your first appointment. If you have questions about what to bring, contact your clinic/office.

For all visits, bring:

  • Government-issued photo identification (ID)
  • Health insurance cards for primary, secondary and supplemental policies
  • List of your current medications
  • List of questions for your doctor and care team about cancer, treatment, side effects or other concerns

Before Your Appointment

  • Confirm the date, time and name of the doctor you’re scheduled to visit
  • Check the Cancer Center location page for directions and parking information
  • Find out where to stay in Oklahoma City if you need overnight accommodations
  • Review our Notice of Privacy Practices [pdf]

During Your Appointment

  • Rely on your care team to support you, connect you to resources, answer your questions and make your health and well-being our top priority.
  • As you discuss your care with your treatment team, use your list of questions to get the information that will help you prepare for the next steps on your journey. Feel free to ask anything and take notes as you talk with your team.
  • If you’re not sure where to start when talking about your health situation, you can review frequently asked questions about cancer and ask your doctor and care team for their input.

After Your Appointment
